In one song, what is the guitar doing?
Recently I have been writing many songs on my guitar for my band to play. But when I try to write the leading role it always sounds very serious, as I ended up turning everyone in the bass part. I was wondering what the guitar is played? I know that play alone and those things, but what about the in between? Like, what am I doing for the song?
First, a good solo should be improvised, unwritten. Parts of catchy solos succeed in writing down to be played later, but a guitar should be a good improviser. Most bands characteristic just a guitar, so he / she plays the rhythm parts too. If there are two guitars that I could write a variation in the rate, perhaps the same chords in a different position, or melodic solos when not full.
