The Importance of Choosing The Best Tennis String

Selecting the most appropriate tennis string for your own tennis racket is very important yet usually overlooked. When you think about it, your own strings are similar to the tires on your own car or truck. They are the only that touches the ball very much like how your tires are definitely the sole part of the vehicle that touches the highway. Nearly all people will buy a brand new tennis racket and just use the tennis string that came with the tennis racket. This is not recommended as the factory installed string is typically not very good and you didn't get to choose the tension. We recommend that a person remove the factory installed strings and choose one of the best strings out there.

There are lots of sorts of tennis string and also choosing what kind is the best for an individual is tough task. There are strings that have always been the standards and then there also are fresh as well as promising brand names that are make good choices to put in your own racket.

During the past several years we have seen a huge change from syn gut string to poly tennis string. The unique poly string has many advantages over the syn gut like additional grip which allows you to put a lot more spin on the ball. Poly tennis string will also be usually stronger and will not break anywhere near as frequently.

Poly tennis string in addition have a some drawbacks as well. Most notably polyester tennis strings can be quite stiff and this rigidity can be hard on your elbow. Many regular recreational players will experience some new complaints in their shoulder shortly after changing from syn or natural gut. We recommend that you drop their tension a few pounds to try to reduce the potential of developing tennis elbow.

Yet another excellent way to get the advantages of the polyester strings but minimize the particular unwanted effects for your arm and elbow could be to utilize a hybrid tennis string job. Simply by using a poly string for your mains along with a great soft synthetic or natural gut for the cross strings it'll soften up the overall string bed making it easier on your elbow. Practically every one of the major companies offer hybrid packages of string rendering it simpler to deal with 2 types of string for one tennis racket.

It is recommended that you attempt polyester tennis string mixed with natural gut or syn gut the very next time you may need your racket strung.

Pressing Strings Hard: Pinky/Ring Finger joint hurt :'-( ?

If you're new on guitar, and you press really hard to strengthen them, can it cause joint damage? My index and middle finger are really strong, but other two still catching up especially pinky. Problem is i am feeling aches at the joints in those fingers, sometimes it goes away, and sometimes it comes back when i tamper with my fingers. I'm very new so its way too fast to have caused arthiritis.. Should i be worried? Doctor said its ok...ehhh, but doctor is kind of an idiot from past performance.

Do more finger exercises. I'm a musician myself, and when you're first starting ANY string instrument, you're GOING to have some pains in your hands unrill they get used to the unnatural positions you're putting it in. Make sure you are using proper technique with muscles as relaxed as possible. Not only will this help your performance, but will decrease the likelihood of an injury.
STRETCH!
Before and after you have a practice session (15 minutes on, 5 minute off, ok??? no longer!)

Ever seen piano players stretch their hands? Do that.
Lace your fingers and stretch them, slowly as far as you can comfortable stretch them.
Then stretch each individual finger in every direction it can move, even pull on it a bit (pop it if you want, it does NOT cause arthritis)
Stretch your WRISTS TOO!
A lot of times, especially when the last two fingers start to hurt, the problem is with tension in your wrist.
Take your right hand, bend it forward as if you are trying to touch the inside of your forarm (think "silly gay gesture"), then slowly apply pressure with the other hand.
Switch, repeat.
Then stretch your wrists in the opposite direction by holding your fingers and pushing back slowly.

And because you're playing guitar, stretch them from side to side too (you won't get much motion, but it can help)

You HAVE to relax the appendage you are stretching, else you can end up with charlie horses....not fun.

If the pain is still persistant, try some ibuprofin before your practice sessions.

To recap-
When you practice- 15 minutes MAX on, 5 off (stretch during this break) No more than an hour and a half at a time of rehearsing. No need to beat a dead horse,
Stretch before, deuring and after you play.
Drink LOTS of water to help lubricate your joints.
Remember proper playing technique (if you need help with that just ask me)
And for gods sake, DON'T NEGLECT POSTURE!
Poor posture while playing can cause all sorts of problems. I don't mean sit like a statue, but if possble, find a chair in which you can sit with your feet flat on the ground, and your back touching the back of the seat.

No worries!
The pinky is ALWAYS the last to follow! (mine still hurts after 3 years of violin!)

It is a perilous proposition when genres clash--and no such collaboration is more potentially fraught than when improvisation-trained folk musicians sit in with Western classical instrumentalists, who are taught to interpret a printed score. The renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma has devoted much of his professional life to such intercultural experiments. But the traditions of nations situated along the an...
