How to String a Lacrosse Stick
For many people who play lacrosse, stringing a stick can seem rather elusive. After all, most people who just play lacrosse casually tend not to take the time to learn how to string a stick. Those who play seriously, however, can benefit greatly from learning how to string a lacrosse stick, as it will undoubtedly be necessary at some point in time. Fortunately, learning how to string a lacrosse stick isn't difficult, and doesn't have to take very long either. The following steps will guide you through the process; repeat it a few times, and it'll be internalized in no time.
You will need the following:
• 1 lacrosse head
• Mesh long shooting string lace
• 3 shooting strings
• 2 pieces of cross lace
Step 1
You will need a work surface that provides you with adequate extra space for materials. A kitchen table or coffee table is the perfect spot to string a lacrosse stick, so long as the surface is cleared off.
Step 2
Attach the mesh to the top of the stick using the shooting string. Starting at the top, lace across the stick to secure the mesh fully. Note that the tighter you lace the stick, the more speed you will generally get out of a shot.
Step 3
Place one of the shooting strings horizontally on the lacrosse stick near the top, tying a knot on one side on the outside of the stick. Pull tightly, tying a knot on the other side in order to secure the shooting string. Do the same for the other two shooting strings, placing them below the first one you tied at the top. Be sure they are relatively tight, as loose shooting strings will produce a poor shot.
Step 4
Using the cross lace, tie the mesh to the bottom of the stick, intersecting with the other mesh once you reach approximately the half way point on the stick. Tie and secure tightly.
Step 5
Check for consistency amongst the lacing, and give it a test by throwing a ball once or twice. Adjust as necessary until the shot feels comfortable and the mesh looks as if there are no consistency issues.
