What is the difference b/w a Fender Standard Strat and a Fender Standard Strat HSS?
It says HSS has a bridge humbucker but that literally means nothing to me bc i dont know what that means. How do they sound different and should i get the HSS if the two guitars are the same price???
A humbucker is a pickup that eliminates noise by having the equivalent of two standard pickups with reversed polarity. With a standard stratocaster you will have 3 single-coil pickups and they will probably hum a little. I don't mind the hum because the single-coil pickups have a tone I like. If you like blues, psychedelia, or soft-ish rock, go with the standard, if you like metal, go with the humbucker.
