can you replace a standard fender strat scratchplate with one that holds a double humbucker pickup?

I have a Fender Strat Affinity and i was wondering whetherit would work if i took off my current scratchplate and replaced it with one that has a double humbucker instead of a single humbucker.would this work or is there just not enough room for 4 pikups on the scratchplate or what?:)

It could work, but you might also have to do some wood carving to get that second humbucker to fit inside your guitar. I'd recommend you replace one of the smaller pickups with the second humbucker
Some Strats have a big rectangle cut into the body where the pickups go. If your guitar is cut like this, it's an easy fix to add that second humbucker. Most of them, however, just have small holes cut for the individual pickups. If this is like your guitar, you'll have to carve out the wood by yourself. The bad part about all of this is that you won't know which guitar is which until you take the scratchplate off.
Another thing to think about is pick obstruction. Most people strum the guitar in the areas between the pickups. When you fill up that empty space with more pickups, you limit yourself to fewer places for you pick and hand to go, which can limit your tonal variations more than adding a pickup would expand them.
