Fender Stratocaster Bridge Adjustments?
So the other day i went to change the strings on my new strat for the first time and i noticed that the string holes on the back of the guitar are partially covered by the backplate, meaning i have to take the backplate off every time i need to change the strings. Are the holes supposed to be covered like this, or is there an adjustment i can make to the bridge and tremolo system to make the string holes line up with the hole in the backplate? Thanks for your help.
The guitar is a Fender Mexican Standard SSS Stratocaster, if thats important. thanks again.
I wouldn't try to make any bridge/tremolo adjustments unless you have experience adjusting guitar actions, necks etc. One option is to enlarge the holes slightly using a dremel tool. Fender also sells an accessory kit that contains pickup covers, knobs, and a back-plate that has 1 large cutout to access the strings. It too is still slightly offset but it makes it much easier to access the strings. The accessory kit comes in various colors so you can change the look of your guitar if you choose. I just happened to buy this kit to change all of my knobs, pickup covers, back-plate etc. to black and the P/N if you want it is: 0991363000. Cost at Sam Ash: $17.99
