BASS GUITAR HELP PLEASE?
i have a few questions about bass
1 when replacing a precision scratchplate/pickguard do u just unscrew it and sce the other one back in cos the tone/volume knobs dont look like they fit
2 do strings sound the same after theve been taken out and put back in
3 how much are jazz bass bridge pickups
4 how much or how hard to install a jazz pickup on a p-bass
5 are p-bass's good 4 slapping

#1
usually replacing a pickguard shouldn't be too hard. You will have to be careful how the pickup is mounted, because the center pickup is mounted on the pickguard, so watch how it comes off so you can remount it on the new pickguard. You will have to make sure you get the proper model pickguard. I think Squire pickguards and Fender pickguards are a little different, plus there are two pickup and single pickup versions of the p bass. So there might be extra switch hole or something.
(this might be a stupid thing to ask, but you do know that the knobs themselves come off, right? all you need is the hole for the post of the control not the knob itself......)
#2 Old strings you take off and put back on will sound just like they did before. New strings will sound a bit twangy at first.
#3 and #4 if you have a bridge pickup on your p-bass, you already have a jazz bass pickup on it. It's called a P/J pickup combo.
If you want too install one on a p-bass that only has the one pickup, then you are in for trouble because you'd need to rout out the body, rewire it, add a switch.....lots of money to do that, and you couldn't do it yourself. How much, I have no idea how much a luthier would charge for that.
