A Brief History of BC Rico Guitars
The BC Rich Company has its roots in a classic Spanish style store and private guitar repair and operated by Bernardo Chavez Rico. Later expanded to guitar making and his early models were inspired by Les Paul guitars. Some of these early styles include the nightingale and the Eagle.
Over time, BC Rich, then called BC Rico, wanted to make more mass produced and inexpensive guitars. The name was eventually changed BC Rich after a lawsuit. The guitars manufactured were known to have developed an exceptional quality and monitoring of dedicated players.
But Rico did a movement of business in the 1990s that nearly damaged his reputation. He gave a manufacturer named Class Axe the rights to make guitars under the new brand. These guitars were a disaster because they were of poor quality. Once Rico learned of this, stopped the production of these guitars and went into hiding until the problem was resolved. Because of this, lost a lot of their loyal fans.
Despite this brief disaster, BC Rich will always be known for the many innovations that have contributed to guitar manufacturing. They became one of the first companies to build a configuration of neck through body and that includes pickups and other equipment inside the guitar to improve the sound and tone. They also have a guitar that is made of acrylic and is completely up to the end.
Today the catastrophe is the kind Axe in the past. And even just make the neck through construction guitars more for construction screw (to attract a different audience) are once again in a most respected company.

Over the years, BC Rich guitars have made quite an impression on professional artists. These include Kerry King, Steve Smyth, Tracii Guns, Craig Ross, Dearborn, Acey Slade, Christy Kane, and Terrence Hobbs.

It appears that should withstand live playing. I'll be sure to get straplock however. The tuners are not very strong. Probably as good as the old Les Paul tuners, bridge, tube drainage, etc. I would need hotter pickups or a preamp for live music since I usually play loud.
The end seems to be a polyurethane resistant. Can I use without a backup? Probably not. But then I always bring a backup no matter what I'm playing.
Excellent sound thunderous aggressive with plenty of bite and cut through the top. Best suited to heavier metal music and such. Good variety of useful tonal range by each volume setting puppies. Neck through body design gives excellent sustain, attack and fullness to the voices. Balances and dive into the Neck Strap.
