my guitar now sounds blunt and sustain is poor, please read for details?
I had to take apart my guitar's tremolo (floyd rose lic. kind) to fasten the bolt that secures where the wamy bar attaches to the tremolo (inside underneat).
When I put it back together I find that the sound is not as crunchy (when distorted) and the sustain is very poot. I hooked my beaten up cheap junior lespaul epiphone and even sounded way better.
Any advice what went wrong when I put the tremolo back?
ps. How does it affect the distance of the strings from the fretboard and the pick ups? which is accordingly to how close I screw the tremolo back into the body.
thanks a lot!!!
Assuming that you didn't completely disassemble the Floyd Rose, I'd say that all your problems are due to the height adjustment of the trem. The two large screw-posts which the trem "rides" (hinges) on need to be lowered and this will drop your string action and improve the overall sound of your guitar. The closer the strings are to the pickup(s) will better increase overall sound and sustain. If you did disassembled the trem, you will have to reset the the notation which is critical to a tuned guitar.
