Electric Drum Kits for Pros or Amateurs
Electric drums are the preferred choice of many drummers. The last decades have seen great strides in their improvement. They can copy standard drum kits but aren't as massive and difficult to carry. Electrical drum kits are light and simply cartable among venues.
If you are simply playing drums for fun, electric drum kits have their advantages. For one thing, you can use the headphone output which implies you can practice at any hour of the day for as long as you need and no one will hear but you.
For the home, electrical drum kits are excellent because they do not take up much room in comparison to a full set of Sonar Drums as an example. And since they are so light, they can be moved from room to room or moved out of the way for cleaning.
Don't confuse electrical drum kits with electrical drum machines. Drum machines play back prerecorded beats and patterns. Drum kits let you play the drums yourself just as if you were playing a normal drum set.
You can spend a little or a lot on electrical drum kits depending on the features you want. For example, the Roland TD-20S Electronic Kit with enlargement board is on the higher end and costs many thousand bucks. It offers an a good degree of realism letting you express your talents and individualism.
Electric drum kits for beginners or those on tight budgets can be purchased for about a hundred dollars. The Simmons SD7K is one such example. It includes twenty preset kits and has room for thirty custom kits. It is kind of flexible for such a low cost. The more cost effective drums often come with a wide array of features that would make them suitable for all but the most experienced drummers.
You can somewhat control the price by limiting the add-on features. These kits should come with cymbals, a snare, toms and a hi-hat. You can add additional elements that may increase the cost. You can even purchase a basic set and add onto it later.
The electronic features you desire like number of presets will also have a bearing on price of electrical drum kits. There are many combinations available. There is a drum kit for each drummer irrespective of what level of expertise.
Electric drum kits might be the best choice for beginners because they're so straightforward to use. There's no reason to reject your child the experience of learning to play drums because you are afraid the noise will be upsetting.
Even if you live in an apartment or have roomies that demand peace and quiet, you can play your drums any time you would like thanks to the earphone option available with electrical drum kits.
When it comes to purchasing electric drum kits, it is recommended to stick with brands that have a huge presence in the drumming world who make products that are backed by experience and reputation. Some of these widely known corporations who make electric drum kits are Roland, Yamaha and Alesis.

Should i get a tama kit with no cymbals or a pearl kit with cymbals??
the tama is $900 with 2 bassdrums and 3 mounted toms and two floor toms but no hardware or cymbals and the pearl $660 with a bassdrum 3 mounted toms (one is free) and a floor tom and hardware and cymbals are included.
the tama has a snare, two bass, 2 mounted toms, and a floor tom no hardware or cymbals. The pearl has snare, one bass, 3 mounted toms (a free 10 in), floor tom, and hardware and cymbals included.
NOTE: they are both new new heads and everything
I am hoping to start a band so we would be using it for a long time and if no band i will always just have fun on it so im hoping to have it for along time.
sorry for not being so indeapth the first time for the first 4 ppl answering
The pearl hands down....Pearl has always been a name to beat in drum sets and makes a great product..Tama is very good, but you wouldn't notice the difference as much between these two brands than you would notice not having cymbals. Furthermore, the double bass is overkill for a beginner. If you want the sound of two basses just buy a double bass pedal down the road. Either way, cymbals are a MUST in drums so if you can't spend $900 and then also buy some quality cymbals the choice is obvious. I hope this helps.

The Alesis DM10 Pro Kit Electronic Drum Kit
The extensive research and development efforts of Alesis plus the complete DM10 sound module finally gave birth to the flagship drum set of Alesis, the DM10 Pro Kit. This new drum-sound module lets players load new sound sets through a USB connection from their own stations. And forging a partnership with FXpansion, the DM10 produces only the best custom sound quality ever.
The moment you lay eyes on the DM10, you will immediately notice the module's outstanding quality. This new drum sound module is composed of a true drum, cymbal and percussion sounds, carefully patterned after real samples of classic studio drums and prized cymbals. Drummers will surely love this electronic drum set because it captured some of the most in-demand acoustic drum sounds from legendary drum bands, a huge battery of top producer's go-to snare drums as well as a hefty collection of real American, Canadian, Chinese, and Turkish cymbals. On top of that, the Alesis DM10 also has a choice selection of classic drum machine as well as electronic percussion sounds that have made several records a certain hit.
Keen ears will surely notice that each sound that this electronic drum set produce is actually a series of different samples - all the multiple dynamic-level samples and articulation are built in, so as you change intensity with the way you play (harder or softer), the drum or the cymbals changes its timbre correspondingly, and not just its volume. This engineered realism is known as Dynamic Articulation, a feature that is proprietary to Alesis. The DM10 Pro Kit provides you total freedom; it lets you play with or without reverb for different room sounds while you enjoy a variety of rim shots, rim clicks, and different stick placement sounds on the cymbals as well.
Not only is the Alesis DM10 Pro Kit an impressive collection of sounds, it is the world's very first drum-sound module too! It lets you load new sound sets using a USB connection right from your computer. And that only means one thing - your sounds will always stay fresh, current, and cutting edge!
Aside from being an electronic drum set, you can also use the DM10 as a trigger to MIDI interface should you want to perform and track with software drum modules like BFD, Toontrack and Reason, and so on. The design of the Alesis DM10 Pro Kit is ergonomically curved, so handling is not going to be a problem. It is heavy gauge, heavy duty, and extremely adjustable.
