Top Apps to Turn Your iPhone or iPad into a Drum machine
When drum machines first came out they changed the way song writers made demos, studios recorded percussion and made a full drum kit available to home studios for a few hundred dollars.
Fast forward ahead to today and we have apps available for smart phones and tablet devices like the iPad that cost less than $10 bucks and can do everything those original drum machines could and more.
What are some of those apps you can get to create beats, drum loops and more on your mobile devices? That's what we're going to look at in this article.
Drum Meister
This app uses a virtual kit on the screen of your iPhone or iPad. To play each drum or cymbal you simply click the screen over top of the drum you want to play. Making beats at first on an app like this feels a bit cumbersome, but the sample quality of each sound is fantastic and for simple high-hat, kick drum and snare beats it's quite easy to use.
Vdrummer
Similar to other drumming applications vDrummer uses actual images of piece of a full kit on screen. You tap the particular drum or cymbal you want to play and the sound is made. A difference between vDrummer and say Drum Meister is the drums are not pictured on the screen as a setup drum kit, rather they are positioned in a way that the most used drums are close to each other. This layout is much easier to use with common beats and arrangements that use the kick drum, snare drum and high hat cymbal.
Korg iElectribe
Unlike Drum Meister or vDrummer, iElectribe modeled after a drumming machine. You don't need to know much about actually playing the drums with this device since you can easily program the beats you need and then play them back. This app best resembles a drum machine from companies like Boss and Roland most people would be familiar with. One big draw back is currently you cannot save or export the beats you mix which means you must re-create them everytime you need them or record them to an external device such as a laptop with sequencing software installed on it.
These are just a few of the many drumming applications that are available for devices like the iPhone, iPad and other mobile devices. Of course to make the most of these devices you should have a little knowledge about how to play the drums, make beats and fit all the pieces of a kit together to make things sound great.

I just bought a Truth Cockfight bass drum/snare/toms from my friend, ideas for cymbals/double kick?
Links to cymbals/double drum kicks....
Yeauhhhh TCD is ballin.
Also a need a low tom.
I play metal/hardcore/punk beatz
Just google different brands of cymbals and double kick pedals. My person favorite cymbals are the Mb20 cymbals from Meinl. These cymbals are specifically made for heavy hitters playing metal or rock. For double kicks, I'd recommend Axis pedals. These pedals are the smoothest pedals (in my opinion). They are well-designed direct-drive link pedals and the record for most double bass hits per minute (1400 something, I think) was made by using Axis pedals. Hope this helps!

Kick $11.99 P nico continue their second life of sorts in 2010 with Kick, as the Chilean group keeps up its crisp, ghost-of-new-wave-inspired way around rock. If anything, they sound a little more settled into things than they were already on Subliminal Kill, with the opening "Illumination" starting out as a quirky enough little groove but concluding like an anthem thanks to a great guitar solo matched with a sighing vocal. The combination of breezy delivery and just-aggro-enough arrangements helps define the rest of the album, with the chug of songs like "Bright Lights" being a perfect representative. "Algodon" could almost be a Jesus and Mary Chain song if the Reids sang in Spanish with a slightly cleaner tone -- except for the giddy midsong break in English, which somehow makes it all even better. Meantime, a song like "Reverberation Mambo" plays around with their background -- or at least expectations thereof -- while at the same time rocking out just as much as anything else on the album. One suspects they wouldn't have it any other way -- especially when "Guadalupe" has lead singer Eddie Pistolas talking about the titular character giving him "the jangle fever" over a big-as-hell drum groove with keyboard noise that sounds like the ultimate Frug from 1966 and 2001 at once. The only surprise is that Mark E. Smith doesn't show up as a guest as a result. ~ Ned Raggett |

Your Kick Drum Sample Needs This
Ever wonder why your kick drum sample doesn't have that polished sound? Would you like to know how to fix it? The problem is very evident when you play other people's songs. Don't get frustrated, all producers have to go through this experience.
Fixing your kick drum sample issue in the mixing session seems logical for many beat makers. This is completely false, and I have yet to see it done first hand. Poor sample quality will likely be evident even after the mix. This scenario is completely unnecessary when you utilize the right approach.
Keep in mind that your kick drum sample can be adjusted during a mix-down – but only to a certain level. It's impossible to introduce something into a sound that wasn't already there to begin with. You will get the sound you're after not in a mix-down, but in the beat making process itself.
The best way to get a great sound is to start with one. Concentrate on designing the right sounds as you work on your track. You're guaranteed to get the best result each and every time when doing it this way.
You may want to try combining samples to build something new. By doing it this way, your first kick drum sample can act as the dominant sound. Once your first sample is placed, you can then combine the second sample for a cool effect.
Alright so there is a bit more to it. Stay focused; your ability to craft killer samples will improve over time. There are many instructional videos to help you along the way, so don't hesitate to take advantage of them. Take time to learn about modern production techniques, and you'll never have a problem with your kick drum sample ever again.
