With a lot of violin experience how hard is it and how long will it take to learn guitar?
I've been playing violin for about 10 years now and am pretty experienced. I can read music well and have good understanding in music theory.
How different is guitar?
How long approximately will it take to learn guitar?
Will my previous violin experience help me?
I played viola for three years before taking up guitar. I was playing basic classical pieces within about a month.
My husband is a violinist who needed to play guitar for his music classes in school. He learned the ten or twelve chords he needed for class in about an hour.
If you want to get past the basic level, be prepared to put in practice time, but the basics should come very easily.
