Article 363: Does Husni Mubarak Wise Decision by Giving Up Authority to the Army Council Hurt USA and Israel?

Since the 25th of January,  the Egyptian Uprising began its Phase one protest.  Many analysts were skeptical  in evaluating the outcome. The Egyptian system represented by the president, the National Party, and the people assembly  were fighting for political survival.  After three days,  on Wednesday,  The subsystems made ugly attack against the protesters, thinking that they are helping out the system. But instead, they hurt the system and bring global attention to human rights and free speech through defending journalist arrest. The President responded after four days, in his speech he refused to leave, or to give responsibilities of the presidency to his Vice. What he provided was assigning his Vice President for the first time in thirty years.  And assigning new government with some old faces. The president missed the point by staying.  This does not satisfy the protesters. Next, the Vice President began to play with the negotiation game, none was represented from those who have the power at the Freedom (Tahrir) Square.  No actions taken from the government to show even a partial change. The scenario continues. As a reaction to global activists on human rights and free speech,  the government (subsystems) kept their dogs from barking and hurting the protesters.

In phase two:  Sympathy with the protesters  have increased, and people became more and more supportive to the protesters. In this phase, the Vice President began to appoint some persons  and to promise of change, with no agenda how change will take place. The numbers of protesters increased day by day, and passed the million and two millions on the Fridays.

The third phase: The Army announced his first report, they are going to meet continuously, to over see the situation. the announcement from the Army Council, was reducing tension for a while, the protesters expected that  the president will leave soon.  But he showed himself on TV,  with no signs of resigning. Hours later, his Vice came up and told the people that the president is not leaving, and he gave him a cart blanch to deal with situation.  Protesters number was increasing, and people everywhere on the soil of Egypt were shouting loudly "Down with the President".

Phase four: Thousands of protesters directed their  march toward the President residency.  Few helicopters took  off from the President palace  al-Uroobah,  everyone was waiting the Army council to give report two, but it was not satisfying, where he asked the protesters to go home. 

The fifth phase:  The Vice President showed himself for the last time on the Egyptian  TV to announce the relief news for not only to the protesters but to the whole world including the Arab world. In his words, the President will leave his post, and the authority was given to the Army Council.

The news was received as receiving  cold water in a hot summer day. All Egyptians as well as Arabs all over the word  relaxed and felt relief. The revolution was successful.  And Husni Mubarak was out.

In my opinion, if Mubarak responded positively to the protesters request, by leaving his post, the regime will remain intact, and the authority will be given to his Vice President, but that did not happen.  Foreign interference  began to squeeze for that position, but Husni Mubarak had his own idea.  He had two scenarios: one to leave satisfying USA and Israel,  and giving his Vice complete authority. The other scenario was to leave and give the authority for the High Military Council which will change the face of Egypt, and may hurt Israel and the United States who insisted to keep peace treaties alive with Israel.  Such request was announced immediately  through diplomatic channels.  This scenario (giving authority to the High Army Council) in fact is hurting USA and Israel.  For simple reason, no one knows what type of free government will lead Egypt.  I don't know how much Husni Mubarak  knew that, or that he knew and took it to hurt USA and Israel.  It was very wise decision I believe, to leave, and even a wiser decision to give up authority in the hands of the Army Council. This is a point credit for Mubarak.  While he could take another turn to keep the old system  by giving his Vice President all his authorities, and hurt the protesters, because they will continue protestation  if he did not leave, or accept changes through the Vice President  after Mubarak  leaves.  That's why I call it wiser decision to give authority to the High Military Council made by President Mubarak. Such a decision satisfiies almost all Arabs who still believe that Egypt is the largest force in the Middle East. Many immediately said: welcome back Egypt. This will change much of the international relations especially concerning the Palestinian state and relations with Israel. 

These phases may give the Arab leaders and their regimes a good lesson to accelerate  their social and economic development improvement ,  otherwise, the people no matter how obedient, they will defend their dignity by their lives. And dictatorship never prevails.  (826 words) www.dryahyatv.com
