Well, there are ALOT of BOSS pedals that you can use. Obviously the clean tone will come out of the amp, but in terms of distortion, i would suggest a Metal Zone or Metal Core pedal (considering you want it like AV7X) Metal Zone, has a much tighter sounding distortion to it, and is much more versatile then the Metal Core, but if you are looking for some good Modern Distortion metal tones, i'd go for the Metal Core. It has a "throatier/raspier" tone quality to it.
