The Benefits Of Belly Dancing Classes
If you are looking for a fun way to work out, why not try belly dancing. Belly dance is a great way to keep fit, as well as learn a new skill. Belly Dancing is a sensual dance form where you learn to move your muscles gracefully by isolating different body parts.
Ballet dancers in general have to broaden their horizons and expand themselves by trying other dance forms, which is why I decided to write an article on belly dancing. Any dancer can only improve his or her skills by exposing themselves to other dance forms.
Belly Dancing is a performance dance form known in the West and is based on one of the social dances native to the Middle East. In Palestine, this social dance is called shrimp sauce Baladi, and performed by people of all ages and both sexes during festive occasions such as weddings and other gatherings for fun and celebration.
In its native lands boys and girls learn belly dancing from an early age. As with all social dances, it is learned informally through observation and imitation of their elders during family and community celebrations, as well as in informal meetings with friends. Belly and oriental dance classes are offered throughout the world, and skilled dancers are able to share their knowledge of dance in studio classes and workshops.
There has been limited research on the exact origin of belly dancing. Much of the research in this area has been done by dancers trying to understand the origin of their dance style. Most dancing in the Middle East occurs in the social context rather than the more visible and glamorous context of professional nightclub dancers. This has led to a total misunderstanding of the belly dancing's true nature and has given rise to many conflicting theories about its origins, since this dance is a fusion of many dance styles from many different origins.
Belly dancing gives you more strength in your thighs and stomach, and also tones up these areas well. Flexibility and cardio endurance will increase because you'll work your core while belly dancing. Balance and posture will also improve.
Even though your focus is on your torso during belly dancing, your whole body will be used for dancing, thus giving you a complete workout. You will need a few lessons to get into this dance form, so be patient with yourself and go with the natural flow of your body. The wonderful thing about belly dancing is that you can start this dance form at any age, as it is a relatively low impact form of exercise.
Belly Dancing is a great way to lose extra inches and to boost your confidence and self esteem. This makes belly dancing an alternative form of therapy. Belly dancing classes give one an emotional lift that will keep you returning to class week after week.
You can start in leggings and socks with a scarf tied around the waist, just for the effect. The fancy costumes come later, but some glitter and black eyeliner never hurt the dance form.

Belly dance: what are the requirements to be a good teacher of belly dance?
How to let students feel involved in the class? What are students looking for in a class of belly dance? And what is leting them bored, what is disappointing them mostly in a teacher?
What the students are looking for in a belly dance class is usually unique to each student. Each has their own reasons for taking classes. Some want to learn just for themselves as a hobby, some want to learn enough to perform at a student level, and some want to learn enough to eventually dance professionally. Students often become bored if the classes are always the same and they aren't being challenged.
There are many ways to have the students feel involved in the class. It depends on the level of the students as to how facilitate getting them to feel more involved. Sometimes our instructor will have us stand in a circle and play a piece of music and each student takes a turn in the center for a short time while the other students follow, and when they have danced a bit they choose the next student to go into the center and lead.

Some Rare And Interesting Facts About The Belly Dance
People have debated for years as to the origins of the belly dance. While most everyone can agree it was developed in the Middle East, it has not been determined what country gave this gift to the world. It may have been from the Persian countries, by maybe Egypt, possibly even from the Romans.
Another debate that has raged over the decades is what the dance was used for. Some scholars say that belly dancing or 'raqs sharqi' was used during childbirth. Others believe that is was practiced by Temple Priestesses in religious ceremonies. In several countries and cultures, belly dancing is a time-honored tradition. In the Middle East, most of the belly dancers are over forty years of age. The dance is used to celebrate the maturity and sensually of a woman.
It is believed that if she is not forty or over, she has not lived long enough to experience life. She may not be able to feel the music and will just go through the steps with little or no emotion. It has been shown that the movements used in belly dancing have been employed in the child birthing process. One thing is for certain, the 'raqs shariqi' or belly dance has been used through out history and in current times, as a form of entertainment.
There are two main types of belly dancing – tribal dances and Cabaret. While Cabaret dancers will be found in nightclub type establishments or even on the stages of Broadway and will be wearing flashy jewelry and lots of glitz, tribal dancers are more traditional. They will wear more ethnically accurate costumes and will use the same moves as found in the Middle Eastern, Oriental and Lebanese cultures.
The large amount of emotion and sensuality is one of the main reasons that belly dancing is so special. Although it is sometimes believed that the belly is the only part of the body that is working; it is actually the whole body that is needed to dance this way. And because it firms the thighs, hips and belly all at the same time, it is a wonderful form of exercise.
The thought of a male belly dancer still holds its shock value, whether in western cultures or elsewhere. The stereotype is that it is for homosexuals or the more effeminate males. However, it has become more popular among men who are confident and secure within themselves.
The key is not to try to do female movement with a male body. Because a man's and woman's bodies are built differently, the moves have to be modified. The key to being a male belly dancer is to not forget you are a man. When traditionally female moves are rendered with masculinity, the result can be just a breathtaking.
At one time, only virgin and possibly homosexual teenage boys were trained to belly dance for rulers in the Ottoman Empire, but no more. With Tarik, Jal Kimo and Zorba performing this art in the form of exercise and entertainment, it is becoming clearer that very masculine, muscle-bound men can belly dance and do it with a masculine flair. Men can be found belly dancing in gyms and in nightclub type establishments to crowds of adoring women.
Thomas Edison made a video in 1898 that featured the Turkish belly dancers Ella Lola and Crissie Sheridan. Through the years, there have been several belly dancers that have made it to the 'famous' category. Aisha Ali is very recognized as both a performer and a teacher. She has been practicing the ancient art form for more than thirty years and passing the gift to others through her teachings for a little over two decades. Neena and Veena, identical twin dancers, have been seen at Hollywood parties and teaching classes as well.
Summary:
Even though, in recent times, belly dancing has been recognized as a wonderful form of exercise, it is a time-honored tradition throughout many countries and cultures all over the world. This is because of the emotion and sensually that is ribboned through the dance. It can also be used to ease the child birthing process.
